What is your Why?

Greetings Fellow ARN Members!  

We thought it would be fun to meet each other and discuss our 'WHY'. Why did we get into rehabilitation nursing?  How did it become our passion?  I would like you to meet our Board Secretary Gillian Smith!  Gillian shares her why below:

I fell in love with rehab nursing as a student when I had an opportunity to do my clinical rehab rotation on the brain injury unit at what was then called the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC).  I knew immediately that rehab in general and Brain Injury specifically is where I wanted to end up.  After two years in med-surg nursing, in 1999, I moved to a position in a brain injury unit.  Twenty-Five  Years later I still love being able to help patients and families overcome challenges!
