Linda Marler's Why
Posted almost 2 years ago by Kimberli Martinez in News Announcement
Meet Linda Marler! She is our Treasurer and here is her why:
When I graduated from nursing school in the early 1980s, my first nursing job was in rehabilitation. Back then, you got a mention in rehab in your nursing program but nothing else, and I did not know what I was getting into. I ended up in a free-standing rehabilitation hospital and 'in love'. The time that you got to spend with the patients and their families, the fact that you had to do some education, develop relationships, and help someone discover their new normal really drew me in. Back then, a quadriplegic was able to stay for 6 months! I have had the opportunity to participate in several ski trips with patients, many brain injury camps, and work in several rehabilitation facilities in the past 40 years in rehabilitation nursing. While I have not been physically 'working' in rehab for the past 10 years, I still feel, and think, like a rehab nurse. I am so glad that I found rehabilitation nursing!
